Unsubscribe footers are very important in email marketing but also essential for the can-spam act of 2003. Ontraport added a new tab in the Ontraport administration tab to remove the Ontraport Ads or Powered by Ontraport in emails.
Here is how you can remove the Ontraport branding in the email footer and it doesn’t need to be hard.
- Make sure that you have access to administration you can find in the profile. You can find this image in the upper right-hand corner of your account.
Hover you mouse and click on it. - Click the “Administration” from the dropdown
- Click on the “Business Info” tab
- Then click on “Unsubscribe Footer”. Before proceeding you will need to follow the guidelines set by Ontraport.
Custom unsubscribe footers must follow these guidelines:- Include an unsubscribe link. To add a link, highlight some text, click the link button in the text editor toolbar and then select the unsubscribe link option.
- Include a physical address. You must add a mailing address where you receive mail
- Do not include marketing. You must ensure that your unsubscribe footer does not contain marketing messaging.
- Do not use misleading language. It is a legal requirement to offer a clear way to unsubscribe from email marketing.

- Click “ok” and it will lead you to the HTML Editor where you can edit your business information. You can see it all in merge field as it takes all the information you have included in the account.
- You can also see a checkbox to add the powered by Ontraport logo to the bottom of your emails so you can get 25% commission when people click it and sign up for an Ontraport account. You may leave it as is.
- Click “Save” to finish the setup.
