I am sourgraping due to the fact that I am not able to vote for my favorite candidate in today’s election May 13, 2013. My Mom and my sister voted early in the morning and because I am too lazy to wake up. I am to cast my vote around 1pm in the afternoon.
I was warned by my Mom that she wasn’t able to see my name in our precinct. So, I said “ok I’ll go ahead and asked’. I heard in the television that those whose name did not appear in the list will need to get their voter’s certificate from the COMELEC which I have for a long time under my document files so I am not even worried.
When I entered the room I asked the official that my name was not on the list and I presented my voter’s registration copy/certificate from the COMELEC. They asked if this is a recent copy. I said” No.” Then the lady said I need the latest one in order to vote. Oh damn really?? I need to get another copy from the COMELEC and pay for another certificate “again”. They want to get money from us in this. Oh my excitement disappears for why Philippines? I know I am not able to cast my vote 2010 for the Philippine Presidential Election in 2010 but that doesn’t give them the right to remove me in the list and not use my right. As I browse through the internet. I am not just the only one who has this issue. All of my Taiwan friends who’s in the Philippines experience the same. Those that were not able to vote 2010 were deleted without warning.
I searched the COMELEC files in GMA network files since the COMELEC precinct finder was not accessible.
In the GMA website it is deactivated for the reason I am not able to vote for the last 2 consecutive elections.
While I have a proof I am able to as I uploaded it in my Imageshack as attached below.
The certificate I used to have doesn’t have the power to claim my rights for they need the most recent one. If only I know about this beforehand, I could have been in their office to activate my status. Philippine election this May 2013 is really a dismay in my end.
